ABOUT
River Support is a team within Sensory Lab Limited in the UK. River Support was created to find solutions to the difficulties people face due to issues surrounding disability or diversity issues.
AIMS
Our ethos is not one of making a profit, but to support and encourage others by using our team's diverse range of skills and experience to create a better environment and a more rewarding life experience.
Our particular focus is to help those with learning difficulties, disabled people, vulnerable individuals, care-leavers, victims of domestic violence, and all people who face daily challenges.
SUPPORT
We are a social support team providing assistive technology, advice, help, and support to people with disabilities and additional support needs. We also direct people to appropriate support services.
ACCESSIBLE SOLUTIONS
We have divisions developing and sourcing assistive solutions for personal care, health and well-being, household products, and innovative technical solutions to help with daily living.
UNDERSTAND
Many of our support team have disabilities, learning difficulties, or conditions such as dyspraxia, which can make reading, writing, communication, and coordination difficult. Our team also has life experiences that give them a particular understanding of the difficulties faced by those with additional needs.
We are used to the challenges of daily living and use these experiences and our team's decades of experience in many different industries to help others who may be facing difficulties or daily challenges.
EDUCATE
We are engage with industry, government, banks, utility companies, retail and other services to educate and inform them about the specific difficulties faced by vulnerable people, care leavers, disabled people, those with additional learning support needs and people who are at risk or victims of domestic violence.
Industry can only understand the particular difficulties and circumstances of vulnerable and disabled people if they engage directly with them. By direct engagement, they can understand people's additional needs and make the adjustments that are essential to provide equal access to the services they need.
A significant problem disabled people face at present is the lack of understanding of diversity and accessibility within many industries and public-facing organisations which results in many people with sensitive circumstances or additional needs being unsupported and unable to use some products and services.
SOCIAL RESEARCH & MEDIA
Our partner company's social research and media team have decades of experience in journalism, film-making, and photojournalism and provide in-depth social research, reporting and highlighting issues in the field of disability, social inclusion, diversity, equality, data security, and personal privacy.
ETHICS
For security and client privacy, media activities are managed by a separate company and we have strict guidelines to ensure data protection and compliance to keep our support and advocacy activities separate.
To ensure the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics, all the members of the associated media team support the codes of conduct of, and are members of, one or more of the following unions or professional bodies:
